Skills Development

In Somalia, women are less likely to work for pay, and, when they do, they make less.

This gender “jobs gap” is driven by many factors, both on the demand and supply side.
Investing in women’s economic empowerment and skills development is one of the most
urgent and effective means to drive progress on gender equality, poverty eradication, and
inclusive economic growth.

One way to close the gap is through skills training such as technical training as well as
entrepreneurial or business training programs.

In order to close this gap SWECC provide skills training such as technical training as well as
entrepreneurial or business training programs to the Somali women to increase their access
to decent employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.

SWECC will also provide vocational training as well as computer skills to young women who
are out of schools and girls living in the IDPs camps.
