On June 5th, 2023, SWECC organized an engaging event for school children to commemorate World Environment Day, centered around the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution.” The day focused on raising awareness about the negative impact of plastic waste and encouraging sustainable practices among young minds.
A key highlight of the event was the tree planting activity, where children used recycled plastic bottles as planters. This hands-on experience allowed them to learn how to creatively repurpose waste, demonstrating that discarded materials can be transformed into valuable resources. The enthusiasm of the children was tangible as they participated in this meaningful activity.
In addition to tree planting, the event featured educational workshops that informed students about various environmental issues. These sessions emphasized the importance of reducing plastic consumption and adopting eco-friendly habits. Participants were encouraged to think critically about their personal impact on the environment and explore practical ways to contribute positively.
The children also had the opportunity to express their thoughts about the environment through poetry and art. This creative outlet allowed them to showcase their feelings about nature and highlight the urgent need for its protection. Their poems and artworks reflected a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around them.
Overall, those who take action now to preserve the environment will shape the future. SWECC seeks to build a future in which environmental stewardship is a natural habit by involving the next generation. The day was a dynamic combination of education, innovation, and collective action, all aimed at creating a cleaner and more sustainable world.
