The second phase of the Quman Initiative, conducted from February to May 2023, focused on empowering women and girls through a comprehensive sewing and recycling training course. In collaboration with SWECC and A4E, this program aimed to equip participants with essential sewing skills, fostering creativity, sustainability, and economic independence while transforming old garments into innovative and functional items.

At the heart of this initiative was the desire to empower 21young girls and women with essential sewing machine skills. The training was about transforming old garments into new treasures. Participants dived into a world of repurposing, discovering how to turn worn-out clothes into stylish tote bags and unique clothing pieces. Each session was filled with excitement as they explored techniques that breathed new life into forgotten fabrics.

The impact of this initiative extends beyond skill acquisition. It fosters a sense of community and collaboration among women and girls, nurturing bonds that empower them collectively. As they shared ideas and supported one another, a spirit of resilience emerged, illustrating the power of coming together for a common purpose.

This initiative demonstrates the commitment to promoting economic independence and self-sufficiency among its beneficiaries. As these women and girls embrace their newfound skills, they are not only changing their own lives but also inspiring those around them, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and empowered community.
